Abstract Topics

Submissions must align with the overall seminar focus. Relevant topics include:

Topic 1 - Innovative Approaches and Technology

Educational innovations, new scientific perspectives as well as leveraging technology within public health and healthcare systems to enhance support, care delivery, and prevention of suffering for people facing serious illness, caregiving, and grief, with attention to lawmaking, surveillance, and safety.

Topic 2 - Community Participation

Strategies for engaging communities, neighbourhoods, and social networks in developing, delivering, and supporting care for people experiencing serious illness and bereavement.

Topic 3 - Addressing Social Determinants of Health

Exploring public health frameworks, community networks, and policy interventions to achieve equitable access to care as well as research on how public health factors (social, economic, and environmental) influence access to care and the quality of support for people living with serious illness and their caregivers.

Topic 4 – Diversity and Culturally Responsive Practice

Developing and implementing culturally responsive approaches to care, support, and grief that respect diverse cultural values and practices and support for marginalized populations facing serious illness, caregiving, and bereavement

Topic 5 - Public Engagement and Policy

Examining how public involvement, social movements, and policy frameworks shape systems of care for serious illness, caregiving, and end-of-life support, including legal and ethical considerations.

Topic 6 - Death, grief, and end-of-life literacies

Advancing education and training in death, grief, and end-of-life literacies to strengthen public and individual understanding, communication, and practical competencies, empowering people, families, and communities in navigating serious illness, caregiving, and bereavement.

Topic 7 - Research Methodology

Studies focusing on methodological approaches, study design, data collection, and analysis in the context of serious illness, caregiving, and palliative care.

Topic 8 - Other / Open Topics

Contributions that do not fit within the listed categories but are relevant to serious illness, caregiving, palliative care, and bereavement.
